Death Rumors Fake? Nepal's Former PM Khanal's wife Raj Laxmi Undergoing Treatment, Report (Twitter)
As the names of the fresh leadership for Nepal are being proposed, a false rumour related to the former PM's wife death has been circulated on the social media handle.
A report related to the death of the former Nepalese Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, circulated on the social media handle. But now the report has been turned out to be false. The fresh report claims that Raj Laxmi is alive and undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Earlier on Tuesday, report by Nepal’s local media stated that Raj Laxmi had died during violent clashes in the Dallu area of Kathmandu. As per the reports, demonstrators had set fire to the former PM Khanal's house and Raj Laxmi was said to have been trapped inside the during the unfortunate incident.
But on contrary to the earlier reports, the report further claims that Raj Laxmi Chitrakar was severely burned but survived the incident. She was admitted to the Kirtipur Hospital in a critical condition, where she is reportedly undergoing treatment.
The report of The Kathmandu Post states that her condition is critical but stable. Dr Kiran Nakarmi, Director of Kirtipur Hospital, stated, "Her condition is serious and remains the same as when she was first brought in for treatment."
Nepal has been facing severe violence, after the Gen Z protest erupted against the government's decision to ban social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube etc., across the country. The protest later took a violent turn stating anti-corruption movement.
Following the unrest, Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned along with several other top ministers. Residence of several top political leaders and government officials were set on fire.
Amid the ongoing unrest, Nepal is yet to select the interim Prime Minister to head the government. Several names have surfaced as the frontrunners for the position of PM such as Kathmandu Mayor Balendra 'Balen' Shah, former Supreme Court Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Kulman Ghising.
